Opps sorry typo its not Liyanas its Lianas HAHAH SORRY LIYANA NO OFFENCE K. Aiya not like she'll ever see this... but yeah. Ok lemme tell you more k? So i mentioned Tropical rainforests have high rainfall and high temperature with small temperature range throughout the year. So characteristics of the TRF includes 1)Low Sunlight in the undergrowth Ephiphytes and lianas(harmless plants) that grow onto trees for support. Ephiphytes: grow on tree branches where rainwater and decaying leaves can be found. (Nutrients) Lianas: Grow and wind around tree trunks and forms bridges between the canopies. This provides habitat for the wild life as well. Yknow the woody plants tarzan slides around on? Yep those are lianas. Parasitic plants grow in the undergrowth as well. But these plants are harmful as they fight for sunlight and nutrients with host trees. Some might even end up killing the host trees. ah such horrible plants. someone needs to teach them how to care and share! Eg Strangling Figs. 2)High temperature and Rainfall in the TRF The leaf humus is abundant and rich in nutrients. Due to the hot and wet climate, the fallen leaves decay quickly, supporting growth of fungi and other plants. Such optimum conditions also support large diversity of flora and fauna. Did you know, a typical TRF can support up to 1500 plants, 750 trees and 1000 animals PER HECTARE? Thats alot yknow!! 3)Leaves Trees of TRF are evergreen hence they do not shed during autumn in fact the entire year they just stay there forever la :) This is because of the high rainfall and the fact that there is no seasonal change, there is no need for the leaves to be shed to reduce water loss, etc. The leaves of TRF trees have drip tips so that water do not accumulate on the leaves and encourage bacteria growth, etc. On top of that, the leaves have waxy surfaces to prevent bacteria growth in this hot and wet climate. Lastly, to maximise absoprtion of sunlight, the leaves are wide and broad! This maximises photosynthesis~ 4) Flowers and Fruits they are produced all year long due to the optimum temperate. Also they are colourful and sweet smelling to attract insects and animals to pollinate, etc. Animals and insects are needed because air is still under the canopy layer. :) Ok chester wants the laptop back.
